
Геннадий Рождественский (1931–2018) was a prominent Soviet and Russian conductor, pianist, composer, and teacher. Born in the USSR, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR and Hero of Socialist Labor. Рождественский conducted leading orchestras, including the Grand Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra. His repertoire encompassed world classical masterpieces as well as works by contemporary composers. His awards included the Lenin Prize, the State Prize of the Russian Federation, and the full complement of the Order "For Services to the Fatherland." Рождественский made a significant contribution to the development of classical music, popularizing it internationally.
