Гектор Берлиоз (1803–1869) was a French composer born in La Côte-Saint-André. He is considered one of the greatest exponents of Romantic music. His work includes symphonies, operas, and choral works. One of Берлиоза most famous works is the Symphonie Fantastique, a pioneering example of programmatic music. He also wrote the opera Les Troyens and the oratorio Le Childhood de Christ. Берлиоз significantly influenced the development of orchestration and musical dramaturgy, leaving an indelible mark on the history of world classical music.
