
Gary Burton is an American jazz vibraphonist born in 1943 in Anderson, Indiana. Known for his innovative four-mallet technique, Gary Burton has been a prominent figure in jazz since the 1960s. He gained recognition for his work with Stan Getz and later formed the Gary Burton Quartet, which introduced guitarist Pat Metheny to the world. Burton has released numerous albums under the ECM and RCA labels, earning seven Grammy Awards throughout his career. His contributions to jazz fusion and his role as an educator at the Berklee College of Music have solidified his legacy as a pioneer in modern jazz.
