
Eliades Ochoa is a Cuban guitarist and singer, born on June 22, 1946, in Loma de la Avispa, Songo La Maya, near Santiago de Cuba. He began playing guitar at the age of six and in 1978 became the leader of the band Cuarteto Patria , founded in 1939. Eliades Ochoa is known for his contribution to the popularization of traditional Cuban music, including genres such as son and bolero. His work became part of the world-famous Buena Vista Social Club project, which brought him international recognition. Eliades Ochoa played a key role in the preservation and development of Cuban musical traditions.
