He began his career in 1965 as the guitarist for the group The Equals, one of the first racially integrated bands in the UK. Later, he pursued a successful solo career, achieving international acclaim with hits like "I Don't Wanna Dance" and "Gimme Hope Jo'anna", both of which topped charts worldwide. His music often blends reggae rhythms with socially conscious lyrics, making a significant impact on the genre. Eddy Grant remains a key figure in popularizing reggae beyond its Caribbean roots.
