
Джон Филип Суза was an American composer and conductor born in 1854 in Washington, D.C. He is known as the "March King" for his outstanding works in the genres of military and ceremonial music. Among his most famous compositions are "The Stars and Stripes Forever" which became the official march of the United States, and "Semper Fidelis" the official march of the United States Marine Corps. Sousa also led the United States Marine Band and founded his own band, with which he toured worldwide. His contribution to the development of marches and brass music remains unrivaled.
