Deicide is an American death metal band formed in 1987 in the United States. The band initially performed under the name Amon , but changed it to Deicide in 1989. The band achieved commercial success in 1992 with their second album, Legion . According to Soundscan , Deicide is the second most commercially successful death metal band after Cannibal Corpse . In 2003, the band's first two albums, Deicide and Legion , ranked second and third on the list of best-selling death metal albums. Deicide made a significant contribution to the development of the genre, becoming one of its key figures.
