Dee Dee Ramone (real name Douglas Glenn Colvin) is an American bassist and songwriter born in 1951 in the United States. He is best known as a member of the punk rock band Ramones , where he played from its inception until 1989. Although most of the band's songs are credited to all members, Dee Dee wrote a significant portion of the lyrics, including hits such as "53rd & 3rd" "Commando" "Rockaway Beach" and "Poison Heart" His contributions to the development of punk rock have made him a cult figure in the genre.
