David Gates (born December 11, 1940, USA) is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, musician, and producer. He is best known as the frontman and lead singer of the band Bread , which topped the music charts several times in Europe and North America in the 1970s. Among the band's best-known songs are "Make It with You" "If" and "Everything I Own" David Gates also pursued a solo career and produced music. His contribution to the development of pop music in the 1970s remains significant, and Bread has been inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.
