Cannibal Corpse is an American death metal band formed in 1988 in Buffalo, New York. The group emerged from the merger of members from three disbanded bands: Tirant Sin, Beyond Death, and Leviathan. Founding members included guitarist Bob Rusay, drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz, vocalist Chris Barnes, guitarist Jack Owen, and bassist Alex Webster. After the release of their album The Bleeding, Chris Barnes departed and was replaced by vocalist George Fisher. Known for their brutal sound and controversial lyrics, the band has become a defining force in the death metal genre.
