
Cab Calloway (full name Cabell Calloway III ) was an American jazz singer, born on December 25, 1907, in the United States. He rose to prominence as one of the leading performers of traditional jazz, beginning his career in the 1930s. His most famous song, "Minnie the Moocher" became the first jazz recording to sell more than a million copies. Calloway also performed on Broadway and in film, including the cult classic "The Blues Brothers" His contributions to jazz music and the performing arts made him an icon of his time. Cab Calloway continued to perform until his death on November 18, 1994.
