
Bracken was an American songwriter born on May 23, 1909. He rose to prominence as the co-founder and co-owner of Vee-Jay Records , which he founded with his wife, Vivian, and her brother, Calvin Carter. Vee-Jay Records played a significant role in promoting rock music and other genres, becoming one of the first independent labels to achieve significant success in the United States. While Bracken personal musical achievements are less well known, his contribution to the music industry through Vee-Jay Records remains significant. He died on February 20, 1972.
