Борис Христов (also known as Boris Christoff ) was a Bulgarian opera singer, born on May 18, 1914, in Bulgaria. He is considered one of the greatest basses of the second half of the 20th century. Борис Христов was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Bulgarian Republic and performed on the world's greatest opera stages, including La Scala and Covent Garden . His most famous roles include Boris Godunov in Mussorgsky's opera of the same name and Philip II in Verdi's Don Carlo. His contribution to the development of opera and the interpretation of the classical repertoire remains unrivaled.
