Booker T. (real name Бука Та ) is an American musician, organist, composer, producer, and arranger, born November 12, 1944, in the United States. He is best known as the leader of the instrumental group Booker T. and the MG's , which was the staff backing band at Stax Records . The group's work can be heard on numerous hits by famous musicians. Among the most famous compositions Booker T. and the MG's is the instrumental track "Green Onions" which has become a classic of the genre. Booker T. had a significant influence on the development of R&B and pop music, as well as on the sound of the Stax era.
