Blind Willie Johnson was an American guitarist and singer born in 1897 in the United States. He worked in the gospel blues genre, combining deep spirituality with virtuoso guitar playing. His work includes such famous recordings as "Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground" which was included on Voyager Golden Record sent into space. Despite his short career, ending in 1945, Blind Willie Johnson had a profound influence on the development of blues and jazz, and his unique style continues to inspire musicians worldwide.
