Blackthorn is an all-female Russian symphonic extreme metal band, founded in 2004 in Moscow. The band is distinguished by its unique blend of epic metal and symphonic elements. As of 2017, their discography includes three studio albums: Gossamer Witchcraft , Codex Archaos , and Witch Cult Ternion . The band has received recognition for their powerful live performances and original approach to the genre. Blackthorn has made a significant contribution to the development of female extreme metal in Russia, becoming one of the few bands of this format in the country.
