As the lead singer of Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs , he achieved success in the 1960s with hits such as "Blue Day" "Poison Ivy" and "Over the Rainbow" In the 1970s, his song "Most People I Know Think That I'm Crazy" became a cult classic. The band performed extensively at festivals such as Sunbury and played a significant role in the development of Australia's pub rock scene. Billy Thorpe made a significant contribution to the popularization of rock music in the country. He died on February 28, 2007.
