
Big Jack Johnson (1940–2011) was an American blues musician known for his contributions to electric and acoustic blues. Born on July 30, 1940, he was one of the few bluesmen to play the mandolin, which set him apart from other performers. In 2003, Big Jack Johnson won the WC Handy Award Award for Best Acoustic Blues Album. His work represented a sharper, more electric take on traditional Delta blues.
