
Bernard Edwards (1952–1996) was an American bass guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer, best known as a member of the disco/funk band Chic. Born in the United States, he played a pivotal role in shaping the sound of late 1970s and early 1980s pop and dance music. Alongside guitarist Nile Rodgers, he co-wrote hits like "Le Freak" and "Good Times", which became iconic tracks of the disco era. Beyond Chic, Edwards produced and collaborated with artists such as Diana Ross and Sister Sledge. His innovative basslines earned him recognition, including rankings in top bassist lists by Bass Player and Rolling Stone. Edwards' contributions remain influential in pop and funk music.
