Belphegor is an Austrian black/death metal band from Salzburg, founded in 1991 under the name Betrayer . In 1993, the band changed its name to Belphegor , after a demon from mythology. The band is known for its extreme lyrics and dark atmosphere, which have made it one of the key figures in the genre.
