Bathory is a Swedish band formed in 1983 in Stockholm. The band made significant contributions to the development of the black metal and Viking metal genres. The band was led by multi-instrumentalist Quorthon , who eventually became its sole member. Bathory released numerous albums that influenced subsequent generations of musicians. One of the band's most famous songs is "One Rode to Asa Bay" for which a single music video was made. This composition celebrates the arrival of Christianity in Scandinavia. Bathory remains a cult band, defining the sound and aesthetic of their genre.
