
Axel Stordahl (1913–1963) was a Norwegian-born American pop composer, arranger, and conductor. Born in the United States, he began his career as a trumpeter in jazz ensembles performing in New York City dance halls. He achieved greatest fame through his collaboration with Frank Sinatra , for whom he created arrangements that became iconic in jazz and popular music. His work with Tommy Dorsey Orchestra also contributed significantly to the development of the big band. Stordahl is considered one of the pioneers of orchestral arranging, influencing the sound of pop music in the mid-20th century.
