At the Gates is a Swedish death metal band formed in Gothenburg in 1990. Known as pioneers of the melodic death metal genre, the group gained prominence with their 1995 album "Slaughter of the Soul", which is considered a landmark release in the genre. The band has been associated with labels such as Earache Records and Century Media. After disbanding in 1996, they reunited in 2007 and have since released critically acclaimed albums like "At War with Reality" and "To Drink from the Night Itself". At the Gates has significantly influenced the evolution of melodic death metal worldwide.
