
Арам Ильич Хачатурян was a prominent Soviet composer of Armenian descent, born in 1903 in Tiflis (now Tbilisi, Georgia). His work spans the genres of world and contemporary classical music. Хачатурян is known for his ballets such as "Гаянэ" and "Спартак" as well as the famous "Sabre Dance." He collaborated with leading theaters and orchestras of the USSR, and his works are performed throughout the world. Хачатурян made a significant contribution to the development of classical music, combining national Armenian motifs with modern musical forms.
