Angelcorpse is an American blackened death metal band formed in 1995 in Kansas City, Missouri. The band was formed by bassist/vocalist Pete Helmkamp and guitarist Gene Palubicki . Their demo tape, Goats to Azazael attracted the attention of the French label Osmose Productions , with whom the band signed. Their debut album, Hammer of Gods was released in 1996, and their second album, Exterminate , was released in 1998. In 1999, the band released their third album, The Inexorable . Angelcorpse made a significant contribution to the development of extreme metal, combining an aggressive sound with technical performance.
