Anathema is a British rock band from Liverpool, formed in 1990. Initially playing death doom metal, the band gradually shifted toward progressive rock, drawing inspiration from Pink Floyd . Along with Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride , Anathema is considered one of the founders of death doom metal. The band released several critically acclaimed albums and performed covers of Pink Floyd songs. In 2020, Anathema paused its activities due to the pandemic and the members' new life priorities. Their contribution to the development of progressive rock and death doom metal remains significant.
