Алим Гасымов is an Azerbaijani singer and khanende, born on August 14, 1957, in Azerbaijan. He is one of the most renowned performers of mugham, a traditional Azerbaijani musical genre. Алим Гасымов was awarded the title of People's Artist of Azerbaijan and, on November 19, 1999, received the UNESCO International Music Prize for his contribution to the preservation and development of musical heritage. His work includes collaborations with various musicians and performances on international stages, which has made his name known far beyond the borders of his native country.
