Alfred Newman (1901–1970) was an American film composer, conductor, and arranger, as well as an influential head of the music department at 20th Century Fox . During his career, he won the Оскар Award for Best Original Score nine times, including for "The King and I" and "Camelot" . Newman is one of only eight composers in history to win this award two years in a row. His contribution to the development of film music remains significant, and his legacy is continued by his children, including renowned composer Thomas Newman . Alfred Newman is considered one of the pioneers of the soundtrack genre.
