
Alex Chilton (full name: William Alexander Chilton) is an American rock musician, singer, guitarist, and songwriter, born on December 28, 1950, in the United States. He first gained fame as the frontman of the band The Box Tops , whose hits, such as "The Letter" became classics of the 1960s. Chilton later led the band Big Star , which, despite a lack of commercial success, gained cult status and had a significant influence on alternative rock. Over the course of his career, he released 11 solo albums and worked as a music producer. Chilton died on March 17, 2010, of a heart attack, leaving a notable mark on the history of rock music.
