Александр Городницкий was a Soviet and Russian geophysicist and poet, born on March 20, 1933. He is considered one of the founders of the Russian art song genre. Городницкий was awarded the titles of Honored Scientist and Artist of the Russian Federation and was the first recipient of the Булата Окуджавы State Literary Prize. His work includes many classic songs, such as "Атланты" and "Снег" Городницкий made a significant contribution to the development of Russian art song, combining poetry with profound philosophical reflection.
