He became known as one of the kings of boogie-woogie and blues-based jazz, genres that gained popularity in the United States from the late 1930s to the mid-1940s. Albert Ammons recorded for labels such as Blue Note Records and collaborated with other prominent musicians of his time. His compositions, such as "Boogie Woogie Stomp" have become classics of the genre. Ammons made a significant contribution to the development of jazz, popularizing boogie-woogie as a piano style.
