Zara is a popular Turkish folk singer and actress of Kurdish descent, born on January 15, 1976, in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul. Early in her career, she released eight albums under the stage name Neşecik . In 2002, Zara married Ender Ulus, owner of Ulus Müzik record label. Her work combines traditional Turkish motifs with a contemporary sound, making her one of the most recognizable performers in the genre. Zara has made a significant contribution to the popularization of Turkish folk music both in her homeland and abroad.
