День прошел, и на плечи гор

Опустилась тень как большой шатер.

Озарили костров языки.

Вой волынок да лязг мечей,

Треск сухих поленьев да храп коней,

Повторяют суровый напев.

Здесь, у Клайда, на берегу

Завтра смертный бой мы дадим врагу.

Он погибель найдет свою —

Будет славный обед воронью.

Нам ли, вольным орлам вершин,

Опасаться тех, кто пришел с равнин?
