Kreuze säumen die straßen

Keiner verirrt sich hierher

Hier waren früher touristen

Doch die pensionen bleiben leer

Die promenade ragt ins wasser, wie eine zunge aus morschen holz

Am strand steht ein schild von 72, zeigt nach links zum minigolf

Am kurtaxenhäuschen steht gesprüht «the end is near»

Das haben wir gewusst und deswegen blieben wir hier

Der fluss und das meer

Möwen stürzen vom himmel

Und streiten sich kreischend um einen fisch

Der aufgequollen am strand zwischen algen und schilf und plastikflaschen liegt

In der ferne schiebt sich ein großes schiff langsam über den Horizont

Warum die erde eine kugel ist, erklärte dein vater damit gekonnt

Erst sieht man die brücke

Und später den ganzen tanker

An der mündung sammeln sich die schiffe

Und gehen dort über nacht vor anker

Ein denkmal rostet langsam

In der salzigen luft vor sich her

Erinnert an die auf see gebliebenen

Und erinnert an den fluss und das meer

Crosses line the streets

Nobody strays here

There used to be tourists here

But the pensions remain empty

The promenade juts out into the water like a tongue of rotten wood

There is a sign on the beach of 72, pointing left to miniature golf

"The end is near" is sprayed on the visitor's tax booth

We knew that and that's why we stayed here

The river and the sea

Seagulls fall from the sky

And fight screeching about a fish

Lying swollen on the beach between seaweed and reeds and plastic bottles

In the distance, a large ship slowly pushes across the horizon

Your father skillfully explained why the earth is a sphere

First you see the bridge

And later the whole tanker

The ships gather at the mouth

And drop anchor there overnight

A monument slowly rusts

In front of you in the salty air

Commemorates those left at sea

And reminds of the river and the sea
