My best friend was at his wits' end

His outlook was rather grey

So, I took him for a walk and a little pep talk

Down over Dumbarton Way

Over, over, Overtoun Bridge

Rover went over, over the Overtoun Bridge

Well, there’s mice and there’s minx

And the place always stinks

Because they don’t haul the bodies away

From under the Overtoun Bridge

His dog Spot was drinking quite a lot

His outlook was rather blue

So, we went for a turn down the Overtoun Burn

And took along a dram or two

Light as a feather the dogs do wish
