Silloin olin jossain, kaukana täältä

Seuranani ratsu uskollinen

Ympärilläni ei ollut muuta kuin jäätä

Satulassa kultaa kuninkaiden

Takanani tuolloin verinen virta

Sekä joki kyynelistä omaisten

Olin ollut soturi vuoksi miekan,

Vuoksi mammonan ja naisten

Viimeinen tuoppi huulilleni nostakaa!

Kohti uutta seutua vaelsin halki

Jäisten arojen, karujen seutujen
