Absorbed in the deceit

We feel the axiom depart

I’ve seen the crushing hands of karma

Tear lives apart

Sit and lament

As I descend

I find no solace in the lies that I’ve built

And I repent

To circumvent

Made no bones about the wounds that I’ve left

I swear I’ve tried

But the guilt is eating me alive

A recurring throe

To plunge me deep below

When I’ve fallen

When the pain comes

I will be braced for the worst

So here’s hoping

You’re my saviour

I bear the burdens of the earth

Controlling every lucid moment

No sign of respite

I slip beneath the conscious mind

I swear I’ve tried
