Und so war er doch einmal

Ein superschnelles Ding

Als er nagelneu als Motor zwischen Rädern hing

Alles war noch echt an ihm

Er stand auch gut im Saft

Und was man ihm Gutes tat

Das dankte er mit Kraft

Nichts war ihm zu weit

Jagte er dahin

Und jeden ließ er steh 'n

Und mit Leichtigkeit

Konnte er

Denn alles war o.k.

Kilometerweit bergauf — bergab

Ist er gerollt

Doch im Lauf der Zeit ward' er von anderen eingeholt

Da wurde er geschmiert

Mit Methanol und Rizinus

Und alles hoch frisiert

Bis er ein andrer' war zum Schluss

Doch aus seiner Haut konnte er nicht raus

Auch wenn man noch so gepresst

Dafür war er zu schwach gebaut

Das hielt er nicht aus

Und dann fuhr er fest

Und es zog vorbei an ihm

Sein viel zu kurzes Leben

Er hatte sich doch angestrengt

Und wollte alles geben

Doch was nützt es, wenn man so was

Künstlich in die Höhe treibt

Darum ist 's wohl besser

Wenn man auf dem Teppich bleibt

Denke an dich und den Motor in der Brust

Wird mir vieles, was ich mit ihm selber mach bewusst

Denn allzu oft wird er geschockt

Um schneller sich zu dreh 'n

Mit Pillen und mit Koffein die Leistung zu erhöhn

Doch aus seiner Haut

Da kann keiner raus

Auch wenn man noch so presst

Mit einem Mal wird der Motor laut

Das hält er nicht aus

Und dann fährt er fest

Und es zieht vorbei an uns

Ein viel zu kurzes Leben

Da hat man sich doch angestrengt

Und wollte alles geben

Doch was nützt es wenn man so was

Künstlich in die Höhe treibt

Darum ist 's wohl besser

Und dann bleibt er doch für mich

A super fast thing

When it hung brand new as a motor between the wheels

Everything was still real about him

He was also good in the juice

And what good was done to him

He thanked him with strength

Nothing was too far for him

he chased away

And he let everyone stand up

And with ease

He was able to

Because everything was o.k.

Miles uphill — downhill

Is it rolled?

But in the course of time he was caught up by others

Then he was greased

With methanol and castor oil

And all done up

Until he was 'someone else' at the end

But he couldn't get out of his skin

No matter how pressed you are

He was too weakly built for that

He couldn't stand it

And then he got stuck

And it passed him

His much too short life

He had made an effort

And wanted to give everything

But what's the use if you do something like that

Artificially boosted

That's probably why it's better

If you stay on the carpet

Think of you and the engine in your chest

I become aware of a lot of what I do with him myself

Because all too often he is shocked

To turn faster 'n

To increase performance with pills and with caffeine

But out of his own skin

Nobody can get out

Even if you push hard

Suddenly the engine gets loud

He can't stand it

And then he gets stuck

And it pulls past us

A much too short life

You made an effort there

And wanted to give everything

But what's the use if you do something like that

Artificially boosted

That's probably why it's better

Staying on the carpet

And then he stays for me

A super fast thing

For a long time

As the engine sounds in my chest

Because everything is still real about him

It also stands well in juice

And what good I do for him

He thanks me with all his might
