Василий Панкратов ночным кочегаром

Работал в РЭУ по решенью суда.

Работал на шару, почти что задаром,

Но жил припеваючи, как никогда.

До вечера спал в полутемной подсобке,

Потом, похмелившись и скинув пиджак,

Готовил яичницу на сковородке,

Потом кочегарил, не жизнь, а ништяк.

Но как-то не вычислив дозу и силы,

Василий к полуночи шибко был пьян.

И чудилось Васе, что легкие крылья

Возносят его в поднебесный туман.

И вдруг он уже на балу в Мариинском

И шпоры звенят вальсу венскому в такт

И дочь губернатора рядом так близко,

Что легкий румянец горит на щеках.

Василий икал и ворочался сладко

И звуки старинного вальса неслись

И чьи-то слова прошептали украдкой:

He worked at the Russian Economic University by a court decision.

But he lived happily ever after.

Until evening I slept in a semi-dark back room,

Then, after a hangover and throwing off his jacket,

I cooked scrambled eggs in a frying pan,

And suddenly he is already at the ball in the Mariinsky

And the spurs ring the Viennese waltz to the beat

And the governor's daughter is so close,

That a slight blush burns on the cheeks.

Vasily hiccupped and tossed sweetly

And the sounds of the old waltz rushed

And someone's words whispered furtively:
