Она стояла, как всегда, у окна;

А за окном стояли белые ночи.

Лишь два бокала и бутылка вина —

И расставанье становилось короче.

А на столе две свечи

Рождали тени в ночи,

И утро шло уже навстречу им двоим.

Она в который раз закрыла дверь за ним,

И он услышал:

Вернись тогда — не знаю когда.

Беда — не беда, года — ерунда,

Я все же дождусь тебя.

И он опять ушел на белый восход,

Была его дорога долгой, как вечность,

В который раз идти за счастьем в поход —

Одно и то же, что лететь в бесконечность.

Он истоптал сапоги,

Он воду пил из реки,

И снова он не нашел то, что искал.

Стремясь наверх, и вновь срываясь вниз со скал,

Он снова слышал:

Пойди туда — не знаю куда,

Вернись тогда — не знаю когда.

Беда — не беда, года — ерунда,
