Donna sul ponte alla porta dell’est:

Passa un filo di nuvole sugli occhiali di lei

Vienna leggera, catturami un’altra volta

Con i miei nodi da sciogliere

Fra le mani di lei

Aria d’argento soffia dall’Ungheria

Come un serpente domestico il Danubio va via

Vienna pastello, cancellami la frontiera

Con tutti i voli che partono

E ogni treno che va

Fari di sole fragile, occhi di smalto blu

E il passaporto pesa sempre più

Giugno dai muri tiepidi dietro le labbra di lei

Mentre mi prende e mi risponde e mi pretende qui

Donna alle spalle alla porta del sud

Ed un riflesso che scivola fra le ciglia di lei

Vienna sospesa nel sogno di luna nuova:

È una ferita fra gli alberi

L’autostrada che va

Sorsi di buio limpido bagnano gli occhi miei

Ma non so mai fermarmi, come mai?

Vienna di legno e fragole

Resta nel sogno con lei;

C'è un orizzonte troppo presente che mi pretende già

Vienna per niente

Per andarsene come al solito

Light Vienna, capture me again

With my knots to untie

In her hands

Silver air blows from Hungary

Like a domestic snake the Danube goes away

Pastel Vienna, erase my border

With all flights leaving

And every train that goes

Fragile sun headlights, blue enamel eyes

And the passport weighs more and more

June from the warm walls behind her lips

While she takes me and answers me and demands me here

Woman behind at the south gate

And a reflection that slips between her lashes

Vienna suspended in the new moon dream:

It's a wound in the trees

The highway that goes

Sips of clear darkness wet my eyes

But I never know how to stop, why?

Vienna made of wood and strawberries

Stay in the dream with her;

There is a too present horizon that already demands me

Vienna for nothing
