Ach der arme kaiser hat nun keine kleider mehr

Und muss nun frieren weil man seinen hintern sieht

Er konnte nicht mehr höher hinauf war oben angelangt

Und wer das nicht beschwören tat der wurde bös belangt

Denn wer das sagen hat der hat das recht

Wer nichts beweist und arm ist dem geht’s schlecht

Doch wie der herr so das gescherr zu angst kam lug und trug

Und neue schneider nähten tag

Und nacht und nähten nicht genug

Für den hohen kaiser — was sind das für kleider

Das geweb so fein dass man es kaum erkennen kann

Und dann war der tag gekommen alles volk stand schon spalier

Frisch gewaschen frisch gekämmt so harrten sie der majestät

Oh seht wie er in prächten geht

Oh seht wie es ihm herrlich steht

Das schönste kleid das man je sah

Da trat ein knab vor den kaiser hin

Erhob den blick und seine stimm

Er sprach «wer ist der alte mann der hat ja gar keine kleider an»
