Für einen Traum könnte ich fliegen

für ein Lied zu Grunde gehn

ich lasse jeden Zauberer in meinen Garten

wär´ ich ein großer Mann der Macht

ich würde nach den Bettlern sehn

von den ärmsten Narren ließ´ ich mich beraten

schon als Kind liebte ich barfuß

mit ohnmächtigem Mut

ich hatte nichts und wollte alles geben

die Angst war klein, der Hunger groß

meine Welt paßte auf eine Kinoleinwand

die Götter hießen Jones

sie schenkten mir ein Lebensbuch

mit buntem Einband

ich war wie sie, ich war unsterblich

ich war ein Kind, ich hatte Glück

es war ein Spiel, was sollte ich verlieren

ich gab mich hin, so lichterloh

und brannte jeden Augenblick

Doch mit den Jahren kam die Klugheit

mit der Zeit kam die Vernunft

und Tag um Tag verblaßten meine Bilder

weil doch nichts blieb als Einsamkeit

nahm ich mein letztes Kunterbunt

ging auf den Markt der Schwerter und der Schilder

da sprachen Narren wie Gelehrte

Idioten wie Genies

von Wahrheit und von kolossallen Pflichten

und um nicht ganz allein zu sein

bot ich mein Kinderparadies

als wenn es gar nichts wär`

Jetzt sah ich aus wie jedermann

das Leben nahm mich in die Pflicht

wohl kalkuliert, die Welt war für mich Claro

die Lippen schmal, die Augen matt

ich wurde ernst und ordentlich

und trug man Caro, na dann trug ich eben Caro

bis nichts mehr ging, weil´s alles gab

ich weiß den Tag noch ganz genau

da sah ich mich in einem aufgebrochnen Spiegel

ich hatt´ mein Glitzerzeug getauscht

gegen ein sichres Grau in Grau

als wenn es gar nichts wär`

Lass´ meiner Seele Schwere los

Derwisch und Magier, kommt in meinen Garten

ich lass´ das Kind nicht mehr allein

nach all dem Sommerschlußverkauf

ich will lieben wie als Kind

jeden Tag als wär´s der letzte von den Tagen

Idiots like geniuses

of truth and of colossal duties

I offered my children's paradise

Now I looked like everyone

life made me responsible

well calculated, the world was Claro for me

lips thin, eyes dull

I became serious and orderly
