Вы сегодня нежны,

Вы сегодня бледны,

Вы сегодня бледнее луны…

Вы читали стихи,

Вы считали грехи,

Вы совсем как ребенок тихи.

Ваш лиловый аббат

Будет искренно рад

И отпустит грехи наугад…

Бросьте ж думу свою,

Места хватит в раю.

Вы усните, а я вам спою.

В синем и далеком океане,

Где-то возле Огненной Земли,

Плавают в сиреневом тумане

Мертвые седые корабли.

Их ведут слепые капитаны,

Где-то затонувшие давно.

Утром их немые караваны

Тихо опускаются на дно.

Ждет их океан в свои объятья,

Волны их приветствуют, звеня.

Страшны их бессильные проклятья

Солнцу наступающего дня…

You are gentle today

You are pale today

You are paler than the moon today...

You read poetry

You counted the sins

You are as quiet as a child.

Your purple abbot

Will be sincerely glad

And forgive sins at random...

Drop your thought

Enough space in paradise.

You fall asleep, and I will sing to you.

In the blue and distant ocean,

Somewhere near Tierra del Fuego,

Float in the lilac mist

Dead gray ships.

They are led by blind captains,

Somewhere sunken long ago.

In the morning their silent caravans

Quietly sink to the bottom.

The ocean is waiting for them in its arms,

The waves greet them, ringing.

Their powerless curses are terrible

Sun of the coming day...
