Che sanno d’Africa

E vorrei

Averti dipinta io

Ma non così

A mano libera;

E vorrei

Averti inventata io sì

Però non così

Colori e musica

Di tutti i sogni che ho

Dei mei miraggi sei tu

La piu improbabile

Isola persa nel blu

E riscoperta però

Irraggiungibile

Deserto barbaro che

Sembra vicino e non c'è

Palmizi e nuvole;

E vorrei

Averti trovata io

Però non così

Come un’America

E vorrei

Averti scoperta io sì

Pero non così

Come l’America

Freehand;

You are one of my mirages

The most unlikely

Island lost in the blue

And rediscovered though

Unattainable

Barbarian desert that

It seems close and is not there

Palm trees and clouds;

And I would

I found you

But not like that

Like an America

I have discovered you, yes
