Kinder, heut' wird’s lustig!

Heute ist im Gänsestall

Extra großer Maskenball!

Heut' riskieren alle Gänschen Tänzchen

Eine geht als Kater

Und der Gänsevater

Kommt als junger Hofmarschall

Eine dicke Gans, die sehr viel frißt

Möchte diesen abend gerne Gänseklein sein

Eine will als Hahn geh’n

Eine nur als Schwan geh’n

Weil sie schrecklich eitel ist!

Herrlich, was beim Maskenball

Derweil zu diesem Feste alle Damen kamen

Und im mancher Gänsebrust konnt' manches Herz

Vor Liebeslust zu schlagen wagen

Alle füllten eilig ihren Gänsekropf

Tranken kalte Ente, aßen Huhn im Topf

Und die ält'sten Gänsetröpfe

Stellten ihre Futternäpfe völlig auf den Kopf

Kinder, ich sag’s offen

Jeder war besoffen

In dem großen Gänsestall

Denn bei einem Maskenball

Machen sich nur Menschenfresser besser

Die Musik zum ganzen

Essen und zum Tanzen

Machte eine Nachtigall

Und mit ihrem wunderbaren Song

Weckte sie in allen Gänseherzen Schmerzen

Namentlich ein Pärchen

Leopold und Klärchen

Gingen unter eine Bank

«Lieber Schatz», sprach er, «Du bist mein Süsschen

Werd' doch mein, und zwar in Gänsefüsschen

Lieber Schatz, was soll ich dir erzählen

Schau, ich könnt' für dich vom Hund das Futter stehlen

Glaube mir, ich sag das nicht zu jeder!»

Sprach er leis' und küsste eine Feder

«Sei doch lieb und werd' nicht immer spröder

Es ist Mai

Komm leg' mit mir ein Ei!»

Kinder, war das lustig!

In dem großen Gänsestall

Bei dem großen Maskenball!

Keine hatte bis zum Morgen Sorgen

Manchmal sagt man: «Schade

Kinder, das war fade

Gestern auf dem Maskenball!»

Aber hier war dieses nicht der Fall

Und viel später riefen noch im Stalle alle:

«Kinder, war das lustig

Auf dem großen Maskenball
