Il est arriv du nord, et moi j’tais une enfant-soleil

Il a dit des mots plus forts et plus doux que le coton du ciel

Il a partag le pain et mon pre lui a donn un lit

«Tu commenceras demain, prs du chne gris»

Je n’ai pas rv de lui, je ne dormais pas

Etendue au pied du chne gris, je guettais son pas

Et tout un hiver brlant, notre amour a fait chanter la terre

Comme un recommencement, comme une prire

Il tait un homme-neige et moi j’tais une enfant-soleil

Le printemps sur son mange droulait pour nous ses arcs-en-ciel

S’il avait voulu partir, je n’aurais mme pas su pleurer

J’aurais gard le sourire qu’il m’avait donn

Quand des hommes sont venus, je n’ai pas compris

Au-devant de moi il a couru, vers le chne gris

Mais sans qu’il ait rien pu faire, le pige s’tait ferm sur lui

Ils ont remerci mon pre, puis ils sont partis

Il est retourn au nord, et moi j’tais une enfant-soleil

Il avait ses mains dehors et sur son dos le coton du ciel

Ce jour-l me parat loin, prs du chne gris
