Пароход в закате белый-белый

Резал тишину гудком,

А у борта в синий плёс глядела

Девушка с цветком.

В трех шагах стоял я и украдкой,

Хоть одним глазком взглянуть,

Как ей ветер гладит-треплет прядки

И ласкает грудь.

И цветок в крутом каком-то галсе

Ветер вырвал, и ко дну,

Я, конечно, в смех и врал, и клялся,

Что за ним нырну.

Был цветок собой красивых краше

И к наряду был весьма,

А она сказала — был не ваш он,

Я бросила сама.

Ни пепел-мел, ни копоть-сажа,

Ни тихих омутов вода

Уже, конечно, не расскажут,

Что было с ней и мной тогда.

Ни губы в кровь, ни мысли в клочья,

Ни запалить, ни истолочь,

Что между нами было ночью

В одну-единственную ночь.

В омуте бездонном и бездумном

Тот, что тишиной кричит,

Мне она плясала, вторя струнам,

Пламенем свечи.

И вязали шею руки-змеи,

И как молот било в грудь

Маленькое сердце милой феи

Пробивая путь.

Ни пепел-мел, ни копоть-сажа,

Ни тихих омутов вода

Уже, конечно, не расскажут,

Что было с ней и мной тогда.

Ни губы в кровь, ни мысли в клочья,

Ни запалить, ни истолочь,

Что между нами было ночью
