El águila y la paloma se quisieron conocer.

A la sombra de un nopal se ven al atardecer.

A ver cómo se verán el águila y la paloma

que por más fuerzas que den el cariño no se asoma.

En la cumbre de un nopal quisieron hacer un nido.

Por más ramas que pusieron ya no tenían sentido.

Desde las sierras bajaron las aves de mil colores

y traían para el nido blancas coronas de flores.

Un pájaro muy bonito las quería saludar.

El águila y la paloma ya no querían volar.
