Oh hear Odin to town hot and dusty\nTo that bar else the sun began to set\nAnd he pulled out his packet of Maekins\nJust to roll up that last cigarette\nOh she strolled from the end of the bar room\nAs she passed him, she stopped and their eyes met\nAnd she slipped the match out of his fingers\nJust to light up his last cigarette\nShe didn’t know of the cigarette he carried\nShe couldn’t know of that terrible bet\nShe didn’t know they were coming to get him\nShe didn’t know it was his last cigarette\nOh he had broken the toughest of bronkels\nLike the outlaws and gunmen he had met\nAh but he turned his back to the doorway\nWhen she lit up that last cigarette\nFor a moment the future seemed changing\nOf the past he could have no regret\nWhen they came in with guns all ablazing\nHe was smoking that last cigarette\nWhen the gun smoke had cleared he lay dying\nAs she now by his side he could forget\nAnd he sighed and he smiled and said to her\nThanks for lighting my last cigarette
